[79] leaves . ill.. . 4to.. "Richard Sucklethumkin Spruggins" is a pseudonym of Frances Parker, countess of Morley and Walter Sneyd, of Keele, Staffs. (1809-1888). A ms. fair copy, of a work printed in 1829, with watercolour and ink wash versions of the illustrations, which were lithographed in the printed version. With a copy of the title page of the printed version loose in the binding. With alternate leaves of text on white paper and illustrations mounted on brown. See 'The Spruggins gallery with an introduction by Nicolas Barker', Alburgh: The National Trust, 1985. Very badly damaged by mould, affecting the text particularly badly.. Provenance: [Frances Parker, 1st Countess of Morley]. Binding: Heavily conserved, restored and rebound, to treat the mould damage, by N. Pickwoad, 1987. Notes of the work carried out pasted to end pastedown.
