Orientation: Vertical Text Substrate: handmade wove paper Ink/Pigment: black printing ink Type: BOUND BOOK Binding Type: Inboard binding, recessed supports Date of Binding: Contemporary Binder's Name: English End Leaves: Sewn double fold of plain wove with torn underpastedown Structure: 2-on on 3 recessed cords with single kettle recesses and two further shallow recesses one on each side of support 1. Edges: plain-cut, medium green sprinkle and polished Spine Lining: nk End Bands: Red and white thead, 2/1 L-R, over paper roll cores. The red threaad is thicker and much more loosely twisted than the white Bookmark: None Boards: rope fibre, laced 1,3 of 3 Covering: Brown tanned calf with faint black sprinkle Tooling Spine: gilt panelled spine with lettering piece (missing) Tooling Sides: Furniture: None Enclosure: None Binding Notes: One of a set on the other volumes of which all the joints are split and weak, though still holding together. They should be sent with this volume so that the repaired spine can be made to look the same. All volumes have the ticket of the Plymouth bookseller Rees and Curtis
