Provenance: Armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754): Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754]. With manuscript annotations in Greek and Latin, in seventeenth-century hand, probably that of Edward Browne (1644-1708) (cf. R.8.11 Beza "...Novum Testamentum...", 1642.). Binding: Sewn on 5 double supports. Sixteenth/seventeenth-century vellum over boards. Gold tooled large centrepiece, with armorial in centre: cockerel with two stars and motto 'o vita o morta dium o vigilia o'.
