Manuscript ownership inscription on title page, erased but still vaguely legible: "Hugh Whistler" [probably Hugh Whistler (1594-1662), BA 1612-13 Lincoln College, Oxford, MA 1615, rector of Faccombe, Hampshire 1618-42; or possibly Hugh Whistler (1686-1762), BA 1707 Magdalen College, Oxford, MA 1710, fellow 1714-33, BD 1721, curate of Horspath and vicar of Bledlow, Buckinghamshire, 1728-34, and of Dinton with Teffont Magna, Wiltshire, 1732-1762]. Manuscript notes in ink and pencil on rear fly-leaf. Binding: eighteenth-century full sprinkled calf; double gilt fillet border; blind roll pattern on board edges; gold-tooled spine, with gilt title label. Red sprinkled edges.
