Provenance: inscribed "HCrewe" [i.e. Sir Henry Harpur , 7th baronet (1763-1819); changed name to Crewe, 1808]. On the pastedown in his hand "A list of my Father's Brood Mares -". Loose insert at p.105: sheet with contemporary ms. stud list. Rear endpaper and pastedown additional pencil pedigree annotations. Contemporary scrap paper markers at pp. 67, 75, 505. Binding: nineteenth-century tree calf; double gilt fillets to spine. Spine split.
