Binding: sixteenth-century German blind-tooled alum-tawed pigskin over wooden boards; sewn onto three sewing supports laced through the boards; three raised bands; pigskin covering extends over half of the boards, the other half of the boards left uncovered (or the skin has been cut away); pigskin with framework of thin thick thin fillets to a panel design, the panels filled with floral roll, the outer roll also with birds; pair of brass clasps attached to tawed pigskin hinge riveted to lower board, pair of brass catches riveted to upper board; wooden boards have bevelled inner edge; blind-tooled spine with thin thick thin fillets; manuscript title at head of spine; manuscript title "Nazans" on fore-edge of textblock.
