Provenance: manuscript inscription (crossed-through) on title page: "Isaaci à Dooreslaer empt[us] 2-16-0" [probably Isaac Dorislaus (1595-1649), Anglo-Dutch lawyer and diplomat, who was assassinated by Scottish royalists in The Hague whilst acting as an envoy from the English parliament to the States General of the United Provinces]. Manuscript marginal notes on leaf 2 [partially cropped]. Binding: eighteenth-century polished calf; double gilt fillet border; gilt roll pattern on board edges and turn-ins; gold-tooled spine, with gilt title and publisher/date stamped directly into panels. Yellow stained edges, polished. Marbled endpapers.
