Provenance: manuscript inscription on fly-leaf facing title page: "Joyeuse" [i.e. title note and catalogue entry for anonymous works, written by John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Binding: seventeenth-century full mottled calf; sewn on six raised bands; double gilt fillet border; gilt roll pattern along board edges; gold-tooled spine; gilt title on brown calfskin label on spine. Red sprinkled textblock edges. Wide comb and French curl pattern marbled endpapers.
