Manuscript inscription on back free endpaper recto [cropped in binding]: Claude de Chero[] … acquier li77 droictz de sisf[????]s… auril 1628 par Mons … octobre 1628 p[er?]air li77 anni[] avril 1633/. Armorial bookplate: The Honble. Charles Yorke [i.e. Charles Yorke (1722-1770), younger brother of the 2nd Earl of Hardwicke; Lord Chancellor, 1770]. Binding: seventeenth-century French sprinkled calf over boards, gilt double fillet and lozenge-shaped tool on spine, gilt double fillet on covers, marbled edges. Nonpareil endpapers have manuscript notes in seventeenth-century hands, which include dates to 1633 – possibly re-used paper from a legal agreement.
