Armorial bookplate: Right Honourable Brownlow Baron Brownlow of Belton [i.e. 1st baron Brownlow (1744-1807)]. Old Belton pressmark on bookplate: 1. Binding: Sixteenth-century calf binding (very worn, front board loose). Sewn on three cords. Blind-tooled on both boards with decorative border and initial 'M:D' at foot, surrounding a cartouche with two bearded heads in profile in roundels. Ties lacking. Printer's waste from a 16th-century black-letter book used as pastedowns. Later sheepskin spine-label (17th-century?) with title in MS: 'L'Office de Justices Paix'.
