Provenance: manuscript inscriptions on verso of front fly-leaf: book or inventory number "(117)", former shelfmark "G.6.27.", and two inked-out ownership inscriptions, of which "Theodorus Sandius[?] me possidet" is still visible in one and the date "1579" is visible in the other. Manuscript ownership inscription at head of title page, inked-out. Binding: sixteenth-century blind-panelled calf over wood boards with bevelled outer edges; sewn on four raised bands; framework of blind thin thick thin fillets, between which is a panel containing a blind roll pattern of putti or cherub musicians (drummer, horn blower, oboe player) and a blind-folded archer, each of the figures with either a small coat of arms or the monogram ST or TS in a shield; central panel on upper board stamped in blind 'AVLVS [fleuron] GELLIVS', left blank on lower board; holes for two pairs of catches and clasps (all missing) on fore-edge of boards; blind-tooled spine, with fillets at head and foot and along raised bands, and foliate roll pattern in the five panels.
