Provenance: With marginal marks and manuscript notes on titlepage in Macaulay's hand: 'The marks and notes are copied from my mother's copy in Margaret's possession.' manuscript notes throughout identifying dedications, including in poem 'To Margaret in heaven' where Margaret is identified as 'Margaret Cropper August 12 1834' and the line 'Sweet sister of my early friend' has the marginal note: 'T.B.M.', i.e. Thomas Babington Macaulay (1800-1859). Twentieth-century pictorial armorial bookplate, a re-working of an earlier William Bell Scott pictorial Trevelyan bookplate (Franks 29799) of Sir Walter Calverley Trevelyan (1797-1879), lettered: Charles & Mary Trevelyan [i.e. Sir Charles Philips Trevelyan (1870-1958), & Mary Katharine, (m.1904).] Arms: Trevelyan impaling Bell. Not in Franks.. Binding: Publisher's cloth; paper label on spine, as issued.
