Provenance: Nineteenth-century bookplate with portrait of Theresa 6th Marchioness of Londonderry set in a medallion surrounded by lillies, Marquess coronet and a cherub. Underneath the portrait are two rows of books. Mottoes: "Prest d'accomplir" and "Non domini nostri sed duces" [i.e. Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot (1856-1919) m. in 1875 Charles 6th Marquess of Londonderry]. Vol. 1 also has twentieth-century monogram bookplate of double "L" under a marquess's coronet, set in arabesque cartouche, dated 1915 [prob. used by Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart, Viscount Castlereagh and 7th Marquess of Londonderry from 1915]. Binding: Nineteenth-century half red morocco on red cloth, gilt tooling and lettering on spine. gilt-top, marbled endpapers.
