Provenance: Nineteenth-century armorial bookplate lettered "Southam de la Bere. Earl of Ellenborough". (Not in Franks) [i.e. Edward Law, 1st Earl of Ellenborough from 1844 (1790-1871), of Southam de la Bere, Gloucestershire, Governor-General of India, and 1st Lord of the Admiralty]. Twentieth-century book stamp: Earl of Ellenborough's Heirlooms. Book no.342 added in manuscript Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on pastedown in Norris's hand: Southam de la Bere 22/4 '47. Lot 354. 15/=.. Binding: Nineteenth-century full sprinkled calf over boards; brown leather spine label with title "Lyon's Voyage"; sewn on five raised bands.
