Nineteenth-century armorial bookplate lettered John Gage, Lincoln's-Inn [i.e. John Gage (1786-1842), antiquary and topographer, member of the Gage family of Hengrave Hall, Suffolk, and author of 'The history and antiquities of Hengrave in Suffolk' (1822)]. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on flyleaf in Norris's hand: Hengrave Hall 15/9 '52 Lot 93 Đ1.. Binding: Nineteenth-century full calf over boards; gilt tools to form a border; spine gilt with title "Hist. of St. Edmund's Bury". Five false raised bands, one missing. Part of spine wanting; lower board loose. Binder's ticket: J. F. Carpue, No. 25 Duke Street, Lincoln's Inn Fields.
