[32], 00 [i.e. 900], 891-1194 [i.e. 1208], [64] p., [2] folded leaves of plates : ill., port. ; 8vo. Imperfect: wanting title page. Pages 689-720 (gatherings x-y) are misbound between pp. 970-971. Provenance: from the library of Dr Samuel Johnson (1709-1784). Ink inscription on third front fly-leaf verso: "Fuit e libris cl. Sam. Johnson. WW. 1786" [written by William Windham III (1750-1810), who was a close friend of Johnson and who bought a number of Johnson's books at the sale of his library in 1785]. Old Felbrigg shelfmarks in pencil: X3, Y3. Binding: seventeenth-century full sprinkled sheepskin (very worn); sewn on four supports; double blind fillet border; red sprinkled bookblock edges; eighteenth-century English printers' waste under leather on boards. Upper board detached; spine leather worn away; spine split in two places, first section (up to sig. M8) totally detached, second section (sigs. N1-e8) still attached to rest of textblock by first sewing support only. In book box.
