Manuscript initials on front pastedown: [1] "W.G."; [2] "C.P.". Manuscript inscription on title page: "Bibliothecae Colbertinae" [i.e. from the library of the great French bibliophile Jean-Baptiste Colbert, Marquis de Seignelay (1619-1683), Chief Minister to Louis XIV; written in the hand of his librarian, Étienne Baluze (1630-1718). Colbert’s library was dispersed at a sale in Paris, 24 May-21 October 1728, and at two sales in London (23 April 1729 and 17 November 1735)]. Manuscript inscription below privilege on title page, illegible. Errata corrected throughout by Mitchell(?), librarian to Ellys, with errata list crossed out and note at head of leaf "Errata omnia emendant cata me". Binding: late seventeenth- or early eighteenth-century full sprinkled brown calf (cracked), double blind fillet border and blind roll floriate pattern parallel to spine; gilt roll pattern on board edges; five raised bands, gilt-tooled spine, label wanting; three supports laced in; densely sprinkled red edges.
