[i.e. Greek beta = number 2]. Manuscript inscription at foot of title page: "Adolfi Vorstij" [i.e. probably Adolphus Vorstius (1597-1663), Dutch physician and botanist]. Manuscript inscription at head of title page has had a blank slip pasted over it and is cropped, still partly legible: "Su[u]m Bernardi Beijema F[risii?] ... ex donatione D. M. Ger... Deesen aduoca... curiae ..." [i.e. possibly Bernardus Beijema from Leeuwarden (d. after 1590), Rector of the Latin school in The Hague ca. 1585-1590]. Binding: eighteenth-century calf; gilt roll pattern on board edges; gold-tooled spine, with gilt title. Red sprinkled edges.
