Summary

Pair of farriers' or blacksmiths' tongs, heavily corroded and broken. The tongs consist of two squared rod handles which flatten towards the corroded and seized pivot joint which is secured by a round bolt. The jaws are largely missing; one is completely lost and the other partially lost.

Provenance

Calke Abbey and contents transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
