Thick u-shaped metal bar or large staple with a rectangular cross-section. Each terminal narrows to a point. Possibly a rivet or part of a boot scraper.

Provenance

Calke Abbey and contents transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
