Summary
A Mauchline oblong snuffbox, straight sided, decorated with a fine tartan pattern of undulating green lines on a very dark green ground, gilt metal thumbpiece, flush hinged lid, lined in zinc and stamped with royal arms and 'Smith Mauchline, Manufacturer', circa 1835 (slight fault) containing fragmentary MS label inscribed 'Box belonged to Sir George Crewe, Bt, I believe the last he used JJC'.
