Summary
Fallow buck antlers with front part of the head mounted on an oak shield. Most of the hair has disappeared leaving the skin attached to the shield which is shaped with an ogee lower profile and pointed crest. Label on the back 'W. Hart [and] Son/Naturalists [and] Furriers/Christchurch'. Plaque beneath horns inscribed 'HORNS OF WILD FALLOW BUCK/KILLED BY NEW FORET STAG/HOUNDS 1877. PRESENTED TO/ME BY THE MASTER. V.H.C.'.
