Summary
Stuffed head of a stag with eleven-point antlers. The head is blackened and the teeth have mostly disappeared. It is mounted on a varnished beechwood shield which is long and pointed with curved top corners. Plaque attached at base is inscribed; 'Head of outlying/Stag killed by me in/Calke Park Jan 27th 1886/V.H.Crewe'.
Provenance
Transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
