Summary
A stuffed red deer stag's head with twelve-point antlers. The head faces forward and has brown glass eyes, the hair of a grey/brown colour. The varnished wood mount is shield shaped with squared top corners and sharp pointed crest. A rectangular wooden plaque inscribed in black, 'Head of outlying stag/killed by me between/Stenson and Normanton/South Derbyshire North/of the Trent Oct. 15th 1890/V.H.C.'
Provenance
Transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
