Summary
A stuffed roe deer head mounted on an oak shield-shaped plaque. The head is twisted to the left, the ears pricked and with two velvet-covered antlers with double pronged heads. Brown glass eyes. A rectangular varnished beechwood plaque inscribed in black paint, 'My first three roe deer/Melcombe Horsey/Dorsetshire/February 6th 1894/V.H Crewe'. See CAL/TX/110 and CAL/TX/112. Woodworm.
Provenance
Transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
