Summary
Plaster, The Canterbury Pilgrimage, Samuel Henning (d. 1832) after Thomas Stothard (London 1755–1834). The scene is in low relief, showing figures on horseback at various angles, one with a sackbutt, one with a bow etc. Within a border finely decorated with an undulating vine pattern, a quatrefoil at each corner and 'Chaucer' on a central shield. In an oak frame with a gilt inner edge, the glass broken.
