Summary
A woven hair bracelet, c.1840, with a broad, intricately woven hair strap with finely engraved gold scrollwork end sleeve finials, on an oval gold clasp mounted with a painted miniature on ivory of a young woman, her hair worn in ringlets, wearing a white dress with blue ribbons. The bracelet is accompanied by a handwritten label, 'Letitia Mosley's hair painted by Octavia, her sister'.
Full description
Octavia Mosley (1820-1833) was a highly accomplished watercolourist who exhibited at the Ipswich Fine Art Club. Daughter of Sir Oswald Mosley 2nd Bt., (1785-1871) she was buried at the family's estate, Rolleston Hall in Staffordshire.
