Summary
Pastel on paper, Georgiana Stanhope Lovell, Lady Crewe (1824 – 1910) by Robert Thorburn, ARA (Dumfries 1818 - Tunbridge Wells 1885). Portrait of a lady, bust length, a label on the reverse inscribed; 'No. 4 Lady Crewe by Robert Thorburn'. She has dark hair, parted centrally, with a large red flower on one side. She wears large gold earrings and a gold chain with miniature around her neck. A white striped dress with a tie collar. Circa 1880. Gilt gesso frame with alternate leaf and ribbon twist decoration on inner frame, foliate scrolls on outer frame.
