Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, Hugo Harpur Crewe (1858 – 1905) as a Child, British (English) School, c.1865. Bust-length portrait of a young child, turned slightly to the right and gazing to the right, holding a branch of japonica over his shoulder. He has blue eyes and fair hair, brushed back, and wears a white shirt with a lace cravat and lace shoulder band. Gold background. The initials H.H.C. are in gilt metal over the miniature.
Provenance
Portrait attributed to Anne Mee (London c.1760 – Hammersmith 1851). Transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
