Summary
An oak backing board with a shelf to house and support a set of metal tubular bells. The shelf is curved and has five brass knobs from which the bells are suspended. The shelf is supported by two brackets and the backing board has an undulating outline with rounded corners and moulded edges. There is a half missing label on the rear of the baking board that illustrates part of two of the bells and has the surviving printed caption ‘Please hang the bells as shown above. The Star in sketch indicates the spot where Bell must be struck’.
Provenance
Transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
