Summary
A mahogany two-leaf folding screen, by John Henry Dearle (1859-1932) and May Morris (1862-1938) for Morris & Co. Covered with silk embroidered with floral motifs by Lady Caroline Trevelyan (1849-1928), each panel with foliate crest and elongated ball finials, standing on turned legs joined by stretchers.
Provenance
Originally purchased from Morris & Co, probably for Wallington, then decorated with embroidery made by Lady Caroline Trevelyan; Purchased by the National Trust at auction at Anderson and Garland, Newcastle, 25 March 2014, lot 1193.
