Summary
Carved ebonised cupboard with a caryatid figure on each side, on plinths with a roundel in the centre. Shaped as a chimneypiece surround with a carved frieze of 5 nymphs within foliate rings. An urn carved on each corner. A cornice runs across the top. A central cupboard has two glazed doors, two shelves within lined with red velvet. Supposed to have been carved by Sir John Gardner Wilkinson.
Provenance
Transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
