Summary
Mahogany bed with four spiral turned posts tapered slightly toward the top and with carved fluted capitals. A frame runs around the top, the linen between decorated with strips of printed chintz of a large rose pattern which also covers the board at the head of the bed. The headboard itself has a moulded crestrail with a carved low triangular pediment above, carved with scrolls in the centre. The lower head posts are carved with lotus relief. A large gilt metal curtain rod runs a round the top with some rings extant.
Provenance
Transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of Capital Transfer Tax (CTT) in 1985 with an endowment provided by the National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF).
