Summary
A collection of stuffed birds of various species including bitterns, a heron, curlews, a ruff, a ringed plover, a dipper, a dotterel. A greenshank, a redshank, a water rail, a bar tailed godwit, a dunlin, a sandpiper, a golden plover, a green sandpiper, a marsh sandpiper, a corncrake, a spotted crake, a whimbrel and a knot. The birds are contained in a large rectangular shaped wooden taxidermy display case with glass front and sides and are mostly mounted on rocks and grass in front of a painted scene of a lake surrounded by rushes and with mountains behind.
Provenance
Transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
