Summary
A set of 19th Century child's wooden alphabet bricks. Originally a set of 24 now only 23, the rectangular bricks have the letters with two illustration words of that particular letter on one side. The other side of the brick has four line verse again illustrating the letter, for example Letter 'C' 'Cock robin went a wooing, Miss Jennie Wren, so pretty, He sat upon an apple tree, And sang to her a ditty.' The bricks are badly affected by woodworm. In an oak box with a lid and 'Crewe' scratched onto it.
