Summary
One of a pair of early 19th Century oak and burr elm bed steps. Each is made up of three steps with a turned carved handrail on the top step. It rests on four turned feet. The burr elm panels with ebony gadrooned edges are found in the fronts of the top two steps, ebony gadrooning is also found around the top edges of the steps and as the cockbeading in the side panels. One of the pair has a middle step which pulls out to form a commode and the other has a top step which is hinged to form a cupboard. All the steps have their tops covered with a pink floral patterned carpet.
