Summary
Pastel on paper, Alice Georgiana Harpur Crewe (1847-1920) and her brother Hugo Harpur Crewe (1858 – 1905) by Robert Thorburn, ARA (Dumfries 1818 - Tunbridge Wells 1885) (see CAL/D/562 for print, published 1861 of this drawing). They are shown bust length, Alice on the left in profile, Hugo on the right. She has long dark hair and wears earrings. He has fair hair worn in ringlets. Mounted and in a gilt gesso frame, deepest at the inside with all-over scrolled foliage moulding, a bay leaf border around the inside and a leaf at the corners. Glazed.
