Summary
Watercolour on paper, Camber Castle, Sussex, by G. A. Graves (fl.1872). signed 'Graves' of a castle with huge round towers silhouetted against the skyline. Flat land where cattle graze is in front and a river with reeds on the near bank in the foreground. On the reverse; 'Camber Castle' is inscribed. Mount with gilt edge and narrow gilt moulded frame. Camber Castle is one of Henry VIII's Device Forts, (English Heritage) also known as Henrician Castles, built to protect the huge Rye anchorage.
