Summary
Print, engraving, Vortigren and Rowena (after Nicholas Blakey) by Gerard Jean-Baptiste Scotin (1698 - after 1755). Entitled; 'Vortigren and Rowena; or the Settlement of the Saxons in England.' A feast is shown under a canopy slung between trees, a table laid with a plate of poultry, warriors seated around. A draped soldier with a plumed helmet takes the hand of a woman who kneels before him. Fluted ebonised frame with gilt inner edge.
