His face and hair are lightly coloured, against a blue ground. Inscribed on mount; 'Jour a droite'. Gilt gesso frame with pierced edge, inscribed on reverse; 'V.H.Crewe October 1847 taken by Fanny Corbaux in his 1st year'.
