Summary
Watercolour, Georgiana Stanhope Lovell, Lady Crewe (1824 – 1910) with her son Vauncey later Sir Vauncey Harpur Crewe 10th Bt. (1846-1924) by Marie Françoise Catherine (Fanny) Corbaux (1812 – Brighton 1883). A woman shown three-quarter length holding a baby, signed lower left; 'Fanny Corbaux pinxt./1847'. She holds the baby on a stone pier, a curved wall behind and a tree above. The baby wears a white dress and a blue sash (see D/1137). The mother wears a deep red fully gathered dress with a low neckline decorated with a deep lace collar. In a gilt gesso frame with rounded inner top corners. Curved moulding on frame with floret where the curves meet.
