Summary
Watercolour and bodycolour on paper, Isabel Jane Crewe (1830 – 1909) by Ann Mary Newton (Rome 1832 – London 1866). Portrait of a young woman, signed 'Mary Severn 1854'. She is shown half-length, her dark hair parted centrally, drawn back and dressed with pearls. She has blue eyes and wears a black ribbon with a pendent around her neck. Over her blue dress she wears a white shawl. In the foreground is a balustrade and the background is washed in black. Mounted on card.
