Lithograph, Archibald Elliot, aged 86 years (after John Wood) by Andrew Reid (1831-1902). A portrait of 'Archibald Elliot, aged 86 years'. He stands by a covered cart drawn by a donkey, wearing a great coat and carrying a mail bag. Inscription reads; '.... for upward of 30 years (he) carried the mail between Morpeth and Widdrington - he and his ass were drowned on the morning of Wed. May 19th 1947, in attempting to cross the ford at Wigham Burn during a heavy flood on their journey to Morpeth - from a painting taken a few days before his death by J. Wood'. Published in Morpeth.
