Summary
One of three from a much larger bound collection of coloured aquatints entitled 'Ormes' British Field Sports' (after William Samuel Howitt) by Henri Merke (b.Niederweningen fl.c.1800 -c.1820) and James Godby (1760-1815). Published by Edward Orme, 1807. The only three remaining plates include the tilte page, Plate no. 2 'Horse racing' - seven horses galloping very close togther past the winning post. Jockey's in various colours. The other plate hwich remains is No. 9 'Coursing 1'. Two dogs chase a hare, with men on horseback.
