Summary
One of a set of thirty-one large photographic prints and five smaller reproductions of the 'Chinese Campaign' of 1860. Original drawing by Lt.Col. Crealock. Published in 1862 by Hogarth, London. The prints illustrate incidents and battles between the Tartars and the allied forces from the first cavalry charge at Sinho, 1860 to the signing of the treaty. Most of the prints are sepia line drawings, but some are coloured pictures of the night-time events and there are one or two coloured portraits of leading generals. Print number 12 is missing. With wide margins; most have torn edges.
Provenance
Transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
