Summary
Print, coloured lithograph, 'Mamma, don't make me beg in vain, Pray read that pretty book again' (after Adam Buck) by M. N. Bate (fl.1821). Published by Ackermann in 1808. A woman dressed in neoclassical style is shown in profile in an X-frame chair, a child is reaching up to her. The mother holds a book in her right hand and the caption inscribed below reads; 'Mamma, don't make me beg in vain/Pray read that pretty book again'. Their faces and hair are coloured. In amoulded gilt frame, glazed. Print torn.
