Summary
Print, lithograph, German Symposium by W. Hess. One of a set of three lithographs called 'German Symposium' by W. Hess. These are mainly character studies of groups of intellectuals. (a) First of the three. In the distance is a mountain range and trees to the right and left of the picture. In the foreground on the left a group of men sit around a table, drinking, smoking and discussing, there is a similar scene around a table on the right. All seem to be character studies. Inscription reads, 'Bonn, summer 1842'. Good margin. Print badly torn.
