Summary
Print, coloured aquatint, The Sloop El Vincego (after C. Hiller) by John Clark (fl. 1775-1825). One of a pair of coloured aquatints of the sloop El Vincego. Captured by the French in May 1804. Engraved by I. Clark after a drawing by C. Hiller, late master of H.M. Sloop El Vincego. (b) Shows a scene with all the ships includong some flying French flags in the centre of the picture with much smoke and gunfire. Inscription reads, 'Second view of H.M. Sloop El Vincego, I.W. Wright, Esq. Commander, taken in the Bay of Quiberon by six brigs and eleven guns of the French on 8th May 1804'. Published in Dover by C. Hiller, July 1st 1817. Wide margins. Edges damaged.
