Summary
Print, coloured aquatint, 'Spaniel', the winner of the Derby Stakes at Epsom 1831 (after John Frederick Herring the elder ) by Charles Hunt Snr (1803-1877). 'Spaniel' a mounted horse, brown with one white foot, standing in a landscape. By C. Hunt after J.F. Herring. Inscription reads; 'The winner of the Derby Stakes at Epsom 1831, 105 subscribers, 23 started, was got by Whalebone his dam by Canopas, own brother to Lap Dog who won the Derby Stakes in 1826. The property of Rt.Hon. Lord Lowther'. Dedicated by J.F. Herring and S. [and] J. Fuller, London published Aug. 15th 1831. Wide margin.
