Summary
Print, engraving, The Smile (after Thomas Webster RA) by Charles William Sharpe (Birmingham 1818 - 1899). Published by the Art Union of London, 1850. Depicting a row of eight children seated on a bench smiling. Most of them have happy countenances, the verse printed below reading; 'Full well they laughed, with counterfeited glee, At his jokes, for many a joke had he.' Gilt frame with gesso corner decoration. See CAL/D/171a,b and CAL/F/171c. The original is in the Guildhall Art Gallery, London.
